Sitowise has acquired two companies, Benviroc Oy and MSDI Oy, that specialize in digital climate and sustainability services. Through the acquisition, Sitowise will establish a Group-level sustainable development service package. This service package will be led by the founder of the acquired companies, Doctor of Technology Suvi Monni, who is an international sustainability expert.
“We work at the heart of urbanization, digitalization, climate issues and other major world-changing phenomena. In Finland alone, the built environment (including transport) accounts for 60 percent of energy consumption and 55 percent of emissions. This is both a great responsibility and an opportunity to make a difference. This acquisition, coupled with the consolidation of our sustainable development expertise into a clear package, will put us in a decisive position,” says Sitowise’s CEO, Pekka Eloholma.
As a result of the acquisition, Sitowise will become Finland’s leading expert in the sustainable development of the built environment. Benviroc is Finland’s market leader in municipal emissions calculation and CO2 reporting, and also in drawing up energy and climate action plans for cities and municipalities. MayorsIndicators (MSDI) is a digital service that supports leadership and decision-making in the sustainable development of municipalities. Data mining is used to formulate sustainability indicators based on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. The service enables municipalities to analyze and compare data, and produces easy-to-use and customizable sustainability reports. In the future, Sitowise will also be extending its service offering to companies, in order to make these services widely available to society as a whole.
At Sitowise, we believe that digitalization and sustainability go hand in hand. In order to make responsible decisions, people need information to base them on. We use digital tools to provide our customers with a data-based understanding of the issue at hand, and thereby help them to choose the right measures.

The founder of both companies is Suvi Monni, who is an expert in sustainability, greenhouse gas emissions calculation and climate policy impact assessment both at Finnish municipal level and internationally. She has a doctorate in technology and, since 2010, has been supporting the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Secretariat in the auditing of reports about greenhouse gas emissions, policies and scenarios in industrialized nations.
“We help our customers to achieve their sustainability goals. By putting together and further developing this service package, we’ll enable our customers to build a more sustainable future. It’s great to be able to develop this kind of package with everyone at Sitowise,” says Suvi Monni.
