With the help of the synchronous compensator, Fingrid will improve the system security of the main grid on the west coast, where a lot of wind power is produced. Fingrid will introduce the synchronous compensator in 2025.
In the project, Sitowise acts as one of Destia's building construction design partners and is involved in designing the hall where the synchronous compensator will be located and the control room building.
- Destia and we are proud to be involved in Fingrid's project, which is a big step in Finland's green transition. This is well in line with Sitowise's sustainability theme. We want to be the most sustainable partner and help our customers exceed their goals, says Veli-Matti Huttunen, Technical Director at Sitowise.
- The overall implementation of the synchronous compensator project includes the design and construction of a large industrial hall and control room building. We will once again be able to show our skills in the design and construction of substations. The concrete structures of the project are very diverse and demanding due to the massive loads. We will utilise Destia's own solid experience and expertise in foundation and earthworks and their design. However, we need design partners, such as Sitowise, who will provide architectural, structural and building services design, says Henri Tolonen, Director of Construction Services at Destia.
Sitowise is one of Finland's largest structural engineering operators. Architectural design nurtures and develops the quality of the built environment, and as an expert we offer sustainable solutions and overall views for solving spatial and functional challenges.
