With the Routa system, Sitowise won the competitive bidding process for Metsähallitus' road maintenance ERP system at the end of 2021, and already during the same year, the system had been taken into use in winter road maintenance.
The system is used in various road maintenance measures, such as winter and summer maintenance, road renovations and the construction of new roads. Routa enables planning and implementation work as well as cost monitoring and reporting in the same system. Strong utilisation of spatial data brings efficiency and transparency to the client, supervisors and implementers.
- There are approximately 36,000 kilometres of roads managed by Metsähallitus, and many contractors and subcontractors are involved in road maintenance. Many forest roads are characterised by limited data connections, and the system must function reliably even with weak or non-existent connections, describes Timo Salminen from Sitowise.
The system has been further developed in cooperation with the needs of the customer and stakeholders in good cooperation.
- The operation of the Routa system and the smooth development of the system have brought clear improvements and cost savings to Metsähallitus' road maintenance operations. From planning the construction of new roads to fast ploughing needs on winter roads. Linking measures to spatial data during work and implementation data brings a new kind of certainty and management to operations with large implementation volumes, says Ilkka Jaakola from Metsähallitus.
