- The news of winning the contract was received with great satisfaction by the team. Of course, the belief in our work was strong and this was expected, but it got tight. The difference from the competitors came from the points received by the experts, i.e. the solid and versatile expertise of the team and experts, says Jani Riekkinen, Service Manager at Sitowise.
The Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency received three tenders for the implementation of the service, of which Sitowise was selected as the implementer. The current agreement expires in February 2024 and the new agreement will employ eight person-years worth of Sitowise's digital solution experts per year. All in all, the project employs approximately 8–15 experts to varying degrees.
- First of all, we would like to thank the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency for the smooth cooperation. We are excited that the journey together will continue also for PTP, and that our experts will be able to continue their meaningful work over the next five years, says Matias Alhanen, Sales Director of Digital Solutions at Sitowise.
The Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency's Spatial Data and Data Transfer Services (PTP) is a service layer that collects and distributes transport infrastructure data. PTP's task is to provide the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency's experts, systems, stakeholders and, through the publication of open data, citizens with information services and expert support based on spatial data that support their operations and are based on them.
PTP is a wide range of geospatial data management applications and services. The technologies are based on both open source and commercial solutions. Some of the services are public and some are internal services.
PTP also includes the agency's open data interface solutions, data transfer services and map services with download functions. In addition, the PTP package includes expert services that produce, for example, geospatial data-based tailored information products, data extractions and various thematic map presentations, as well as further development of PTP's applications and services.
- The project started in January with a kickoff event, where issues and schedules related to the launch of the service were discussed. The first will be the two services added to the new agreement, which will be transferred from other operators to the new agreement. In one of these, Suomen Väylät service, Sitowise has been a previous supplier. The employees are partly the same experts who have previously worked in both PTP and Suomen Väylä positions, so the transfer will presumably go quite smoothly without any major surprises, says Riekkinen.
